[A/V hacking] Trying to hack TVs - report

Added: Thursday October 9, 2008

Recently I went to NXP (formerly Philips Semiconductors) to sit down with Jan Brands, one of their security researchers. He had scavenged the NXP offices for UPnP enabled devices, mostly TVs from Philips. We tested them for UPnP vulnerabilities, but there was actually surprisingly little to find. Only on a few devices we were able to actually display something. It turns out that a lot of devices don't expose a lot of UPnP functionality to the outside world. This is reassuring. Expect a bigger report soon.
