[Rants] Why lame hacks aren't always lame
When I talk to people about my UPnP research their reaction is sometimes like "We already knew that right along, so it is not interesting/new/spectacular". And they are right. The attacks per se are not interesting at all. What is interesting is the immense scale of these problems and the fact that they are not fixed and keep coming back in every new device.
So, these hacks should not be judged at just technically. Once you realize that, you see these hacks are not lame, but necessary.
